I have one of those tiny digital recorders and have been using it. But how do you transfer files from it onto a computer? I guess that can be done so am wondering exactly how to do that.
What one do you have? I have the olympis DS 40, and it just hooks up to the USB, and you can drag and drop that way. It helps to know what model you have first.
One of my best friends has an Olympus DS50, and I've transferred files from it to my computer before. You hook it up to the computer via a USB cord, and it literally acts like another external drive. So, you can simply cut and paste files from the DS50 folder into wherever you want on your computer.
Same here with my ds30. Olympus recorders are great, imho.
need to find the model info but the question is do I need an extra cord or can I disconnect a computer wire then connect it to the recorder with the end I took out of the computer? Am illiterate on connecting a computer to other machines.
Well, if your recorder has that capability, it might have come with a chord. It will probably have a very tiny square or rectangular-shaped place into which you'll plug the cable on the recorder called a mini usb jack. The other end goes into a USB jack on your computer. Hope this helps.

I have the olympus ws100 and it has the USB plug attached to it. if you pull it apart you are left holding the controls in one hand and the battery pack in the other. on the end of the controls is the plug for the usb and it just plugs directly in and reads as another drive. when you finish and disconnect the recorder from the pc, just slide it back into the battery pack.
